Belly fat – The worst nightmare for most of the people in these days, which not only make us look unattractive or lessen the self – esteem but also become a base for many health problems like high blood pressure, fatty liver, diabetes, heart problems, dementia, etc.

Belly fat (or abdominal fat or visceral fat) accumulates around the midsection that caused due to unhealthy diet and sedentary lifestyle like consuming carbohydrates, junk foods or more calorie foods, genetics, lack of physical activities, weak metabolism, overeating, intake of food before bedtime, stress, lack of proper sleep, poor posture, hormonal changes, etc.

How the fat accumulates in the belly?

The carbohydrates, fats, and proteins from the food which we eat will serve as a catalyst to produce energy that is used to perform various bodily functions. The excess will be stored as a fat in the fat cells of the body.

If we increase the intake of carbohydrates and fat foods then the fat cells will run out of the space and stored within the muscle linings, especially present in the areas like waist, hips, chest and when there is no more space in the fat cells then it accumulates in the muscle linings resulting to a flab.

Making your belly fat to flat is little difficult but we can easily lose the belly fat and stay slim with the proper planning of diet (eating the right food at right time) and exercises in the daily routine. So, to wear your favorite dresses, you have to know the reasons for accumulation of fat in your tummy and take necessary steps.

Home Remedies to Lose Belly Fat:

Here we are going to know what to include in your diet and exercises to reduce this stubborn belly fat and thereby to enjoy a healthy and flat belly.

Remedy – 1: (Fat Burning Beverages)

Consuming fatty foods and drinking unhealthy beverages will increase your waist line. So, here we will know some healthy fat burning beverages for losing your tummy fat.

1. Lemon Water:

Lemon is rich in vitamin C, magnesium and calcium that helps for proper digestion and maintain normal blood pressure. Lemon water will increase enzymes to detoxify your liver and thereby it enhances the liver functioning of metabolizing fat to prevent its deposits around the waistline.

Take a lemon and squeeze out its juice in 1 glass of lukewarm water. Stir well and drink it in every morning on an empty stomach. Avoid eating or drinking anything for at least 30 minutes after drinking this lemon water.

Or you can add few chopped garlic cloves in this lemon water before drinking, as garlic is good for cardiovascular health and blood pressure and also increases good cholesterol to inhibit the process of adipogenesis (making fat).

2. Cranberry Juice:

The rich content of organic acids like citric acid, malic acid, and quinic acid will work as digestive enzymes and emulsifying agents that help to reduce the stubborn fat deposits in the lymphatic system and thus digest the waste that can’t process by the liver.

Mix 1 cup of unsweetened cranberry juice in 7 cups of water and stir well. Drink 1 cup of this cranberry water before breakfast and lunch, after dinner and at other times of the day – throughout the day.

Also, prepare an instant cran – water by mixing 2 tablespoons of cranberry juice in 7 oz. of water. Stir and drink it when you need to drink it.

3. Ginger Tea:

Ginger has a thermogenic property that increases body temperature to burn your fat effectively and aids in proper digestion. It also suppresses the production of cortisol (steroid hormone for energy regulation and metabolism) that helps in losing tummy fat.

Boil 4 cups of water and add 1 to 2-inch piece of peeled ginger in this water. Simmer for 5 – 10 minutes and turn off the heat. Then add fresh lemon juice squeezed from 1 lemon and 1 teaspoon of honey to it. Stir well and drink 1 cup of this ginger tea in the morning.  Drinking 2 – 3 cups of ginger tea daily will help to regulate metabolism, reduce cortisol production and aids in digestion.

4. Detox Water (or Herbs Infused Water):

Drinking detox water prepared with water, lemon, cucumber, ginger and mint leaves will help you to cleanse your body by removing impurities and boosts metabolism. Cucumber has dietary fibers that cleanse the body deeply. Both ginger and lemon act as excellent fat burners that boost metabolism. Mint calm down the carvings and soothes the tummy. Water hydrates your body.

Pour 2 liters of water in a jar and pour fresh slices of 1 lemon, 1 teaspoon of grated ginger, 1 medium sized sliced cucumber and 10 – 12 sprigs of mint leaves in this water. Cover it and let it soak for overnight. In the next day, you can drink this detox water throughout the day.

5. Dandelion Tea:

The natural diuretic property of dandelion will increase your urine output and thus reduce the fat caused due to water retention. It improves liver functioning by flushing out toxins and retained water from the body.

Prepare dandelion tea by adding 1 tablespoon of a roasted dandelion root, cardamom seeds (1 cardamom), 1/2 inch piece of cinnamon bark, 1/2 inch piece of fresh ginger and 4 – 5 fresh mint leaves in 1 ½ cups of water. Boil it for 7 – 10 minutes and strain the tea. Add 1 ½ teaspoon of honey and drink this delicious dandelion tea for 2 – 4 times daily to get rid of belly fat.

Avoid the intake of dandelion tea if you’re suffering from gall bladder issues and also consult your doctor before having this tea.

6. Green Tea:

Green tea (prefer matcha tea) contains catechin called epigallocatechin – 3 – gallate (EGCG) that boosts up your metabolism and thereby reduces your excess fat from the belly. You can use a green tea bag or green tea leaves for preparing this fat burning green tea recipe.

Pour 1 – 2 teaspoons of green tea leaves and 4 – 5 mint leaves in 1 cup of water. Cover and let it steep for 5 – 10 minutes. Strain and stir by adding 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice and 1 teaspoon of honey. Sip your green tea slowly and continue the intake for 3 – 4 times daily (prefer to take it early morning and after your meals).

7. Apple Cider Vinegar:

Apple cider vinegar (ACV) loses your overweight with its rich source of organic acids and enzymes that increase your metabolism. It suppresses your appetite to make you consume fewer calories and shred the calories inside the body.

Mix 1 tablespoon of organic unfiltered ACV in 1 glass of water (prefer warm water) and stir well. Drink this ACV water 30 minutes before each meal. (Or) you can add 1 teaspoon of honey or cinnamon or maple syrup in this ACV water to enhance its taste and to lose your tummy fat.

8. Water:

Honey has an antibacterial property that clears acne causing bacteria and soothes the inflammation. Nutmeg has anti-inflammatory property that calms down the swelling. Cinnamon exfoliates the skin to clear dead cells, oil, and other impurities. This spot treatment is very simple and effective in clearing acne scars and dark spots on the skin.

Steps to be followed…

DIY One Step to Lighten Dark Spots and Acne Scars Treatment

  • Add 1 teaspoon each of nutmeg and cinnamon powder, 1 tablespoon of organic honey and some fresh lemon juice in a bowl.
  • Stir well to make it a fine paste.
  • Apply it on the acne scars and dark spots affected skin areas using a cotton swab or cotton ball or a makeup brush.
  • Leave it on for 20 – 25 minutes and rinse off with warm water.
  • Dry your skin and apply a moisturizer that suits your skin type.

  • If you’re having dry or sensitive skin, then dilute lemon juice with some rose water or normal water or vitamin E oil or honey, etc. and then apply it on the acne scars.
  • Alternatively, prepare a lemon mask for pimple scar removal by adding 1 tablespoon each of fresh lemon juice, honey and almond oil in 2 tablespoons of milk. Apply it on the scars daily but not before you step out in the sun.
  • Or else, mix 4 teaspoons of watermelon juice, 1 teaspoon of lemon juice, 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda and 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric powder in a bowl. Stir well and apply it on the acne scars and rinse off with lukewarm water followed by cold water after 10 – 15 minutes.

Method – 3: (Aloe Vera)

Aloe vera has an anti-inflammatory property that soothes the swollen skin and helps in the regeneration of damaged skin tissues to boost up the healing process. it moistures the skin to fade away the acne scars.

Steps to be followed…

  • Squeeze aloe vera gel /pulp from an aloe leaf.
  • Clean and dry your face and other acne scars affected areas.
  • Apply this aloe vera gel on the acne scars and dark spots.
  • Leave it on for about for 30 – 45 minutes and rinse off with water.
  • Continue doing the same process for 2 – 4 times a day to get rid of acne scars.

Note: Or you can leave the gel like that on the skin, as it won’t cause any harm to you.

Method – 4: (Baking Soda)

Baking soda exfoliates the skin to clear dead cells and oil, which in turn minimizes the appearance of acne scars. It has excellent skin lightening and bleaching property that fades away the acne scars and dark spots. It balances the improper pH levels of the skin to maintain a healthy skin.

Steps to be followed…

  • Add enough of water to 2 tablespoons of baking soda.
  • Stir well to make it a fine paste and apply it on the acne scars affected skin areas.
  • Massage gently for 2 minutes and leave it on for few minutes.
  • Wash the applied area with lukewarm water and apply moisturizer (as baking soda dries the skin).
  • Do the same process for 2 – 3 times a week.

Baking Soda for Acne Scars and Dark Spots

Note: Or you can also apply this as a face mask but concentrate more on the scars affected facial areas.

Method – 5: (Honey)

Honey has natural antibacterial, antiseptic and soothing properties that rejuvenate the damaged skin to clear acne scars.

Steps to be followed…

  • Take some organic honey in a bowl and dip a cotton ball or swab in it.
  • Dab it directly on the scars or dark spots.
  • Prefer to do it at night before bedtime and leave it on for overnight.
  • Wash it off with water in the next morning.
  • Regular follow-up of this process will definitely help you not to fade away the acne scars but also lightens up your skin to glow with an even tone.

  • Add 2 teaspoons of ACV in 1 – 2 teaspoons of water.

  • Dry the skin and apply moisturizer that suits your skin type.
  • Continue doing it once or twice daily until the acne scars are completely cleared from the skin.

Apple Cider Vinegar For Dark spots

Note:

  • Or you can add a little honey in the above process before application.
  • Alternatively, dilute 1 teaspoon of organic honey, 1 – 2 tablespoons of raw ACV in 1 glass of water. Stir well and drink it to get relief from inside out.

Method – 7: (Tea Tree Oil)

Tea tree oil lightens the acne scars with its antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties. It penetrates deep into the skin pores to remove the toxins, unblocks excess sebum and repairs the damaged skin tissues to lighten the scars.

Steps to be followed…

  • Add few drops of tea tree oil onto a cotton ball.
  • Dab it directly on the acne scars affected skin areas.
  • Massage it gently for few minutes and leave it on for another few minutes.
  • Rinse off with water and repeat the same regularly till you cleared these ugly acne scars on the skin.

Note: if you’re suffering from any stinging or burning sensation, then make sure to dilute tea tree oil with some water or aloe vera gel or honey before application.

Tips and Precautions:

  1. Even ice cubes will fade acne scars by simply placing the ice cube compress to soothe the inflamed skin and prevent redness. Also, freeze green tea and other herbs in your ice cube tray and use it to get rid of the problem.
  2. Protect your skin from the sun, as the harmful ultraviolet rays will worsen the acne scars. So, apply SPF 30 or more based sunscreen before you step out in the sun.
  3. Always prefer to use gentle skincare products like facial cleansers, makeup removers, scrubs, moisturizers, etc. that soothe the skin rather than to inflame it.
  4. Exfoliate regularly but gently to get rid of dead skin and reveals fresh and soft new skin underneath. Also, avoid using hot water to prevent dryness.
  5. Drink plenty of water, have a healthy diet, relax yourself to reduce the stress, exercise regularly, have some skin care hygiene, etc. should be included in your daily habits for getting rid of acne scars and dark spots now and then.

2. Aloe Vera:

How to Treat Bacterial Vaginosis Naturally

Bacteria will play a major role in the proper functioning of many parts of the body like digestive tract or vaginal area. Surprising? But it’s true. We all are aware there are good bacteria and bad bacteria present in our body and any imbalance in their levels will result in infections.

Vaginitis is defined as the inflammation of the vagina area. It causes pain, itching or burning sensation or even discharges. In general, there are 4 common types of vaginitis – bacterial vaginosis, yeast infections, trichomoniasis and vaginal atrophy.

So, bacterial vaginosis is a common type of vaginal infection that caused when the balance between the lactobacilli (good bacteria) and anaerobes (bad bacteria) gets disturbed. The most common cases are when there is an overgrowth of bad bacteria that throws the vaginal environment out of balance.

Do you know that 1 in every 5 women are experiencing this type of infection by the time they reached mid-forties. As per NHANES, it is estimated that 21.2 million women (between 15 – 49 years old) in the US are tested positive for this bacterial vaginosis infection.

Women (Sexually active or not) are more prone to this infection rather than men. It affects women reproductive system, especially who have an active sex life, weak immune system, pregnant, etc. Common symptoms of bacterial vaginosis include excessive vaginal discharge, itching, burning sensation, pain during urination, fishy odor, etc.

However there is no specific reason what causes the bacteria to get out of balance but certain factors like a new sex partner, excessive douching, excessive smoking, having sex with multiple partners, changes in pH balance of the vagina, Gardnerella vaginalis (spore that reproduce inside the vagina and change the normal pH balance), oral contraceptives, excessive usage of soaps or laundry detergents with perfumes or dyes, pain during/after sex, etc.

Bacterial vaginosis is not a serious health problem and often goes away on its own. But always try to treat the problem as soon as you find out its symptoms by consulting your doctor. There are some simple yet effective home remedies that help you in dealing with this annoying problem.

Home Remedies for Bacterial Vaginosis:

Instead of using antibiotics and other prescription medications, just give a trial to the natural remedies along with consuming a healthy diet to get rid of this bacterial vaginosis and its symptoms. Regular follow up of these remedies will cure the problem and prevent its recurrence as well.

Remedy – 1: (Yogurt)

Yogurt – a natural source of probiotic that provides you with a plenty of healthy bacteria (lactobacillus) and thereby establish a balanced vaginal environment. It fights off bad bacteria and helps for a healthy functioning of the vaginal area.

Here are a few ways of using yogurt for bacterial vaginosis.

  • Mix 1 – 2 cups of apple cider vinegar to your bathtub filled with lukewarm water.
  • Stir and sit in this bath water for 15 – 20 minutes.
  • After that, dry the vaginal area gently using a soft towel.

Note:

  • Or mix 2 tablespoons of ACV in warm water and use it to cleanse your vagina for twice daily for a couple of days.
  • Or consume ACV by mixing 1 – 2 tablespoons of raw ACV and 1 teaspoon of raw honey in 1 glass of lukewarm water. Drink it twice daily to enhance your immunity and to get rid of the problem.

Remedy – 3: (Tea Tree Oil)

Tea tree oil is enriched with natural antibacterial, antimicrobial, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties that help you in dealing with this bacterial vaginosis. It kills the germs and eliminates the odor of the vagina.

Here are a few ways of using tea tree oil for vaginosis.

  • Pour a few drops of tea tree oil in a small bowl filled with warm water. Stir well and use it to wash the vagina thoroughly. Dry it naturally and continue this process once daily for 3 – 4 weeks.
  • Stir 3 drops of tea tree oil and 3 cups of white vinegar to your bathtub filled with lukewarm water. Soak in this water for about 30 minutes and dry the skin gently. Repeat it every other day for 1 – 2 months to get rid of the problem.

  • Mix a few drops of tea tree oil in coconut oil and soak a tampon in it. Now insert the tampon into the vagina and remove it after 1 hour. Repeat it regularly.
  • Or simply use tea tree oil vaginal suppositories to get relief from the problem.

Note: Pregnant women or people who are allergic to tea tree oil should avoid using tea tree oil to cure bacterial vaginosis.

Remedy – 4: (Garlic)

The antibacterial, antimicrobial, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties of garlic will help to clear the growth of bad bacteria and also enhance your immune system to cure the problem.
