DIY Green Tea Products for Healthy Hair

Are you drinking green tea regularly? Do you know green tea is applied on the hair or skin to get rid of many beauty problems? Surprising isn’t it!

Green tea is well known for its antioxidants, which is required to maintain healthy hair and skin. It also contains amino acids, enzymes, vitamins (B, C & E), magnesium, potassium, folate, polyphenols and manganese.

You can grab many health benefits by simply drinking green tea daily and to grab beauty benefits, you have to apply this green tea on the hair or skin. Now, we are going to know how to prepare green tea hair products for maintaining a healthy hair.

Green tea application will soothe the scalp and hair to reduce psoriasis, eczema, and other scalp irritations along with clearing dandruff, moisturizing the dry or itchy scalp and finally enhance your hair growth.

Here we are going to know all about DIY hair products using green tea for healthy hair. Let’s get started.

Product – 1: (Hair Rinse)

This hair rinse stimulates the hair growth by preventing dandruff, reducing hair loss and other scalp problems. It makes your hair to grow healthy by protecting it from the damage caused due to pollution and harsh products.

  • Place 2 green tea bags in 2 – 3 cups of hot water.
  • Let it steep for few minutes and take out the green tea bags.
  • Allow the water to cool down for few minutes.
  • Use this tea water as a final rinse to your hair (after using shampoo and conditioner).
  • Massage it on your scalp for few minutes and rinse off with normal water.
  • Repeat the same process regularly to add volume and shine to your hair.

Product – 2: (Hair Spray)

Green tea hair spray will give a solution to many hair problems like hair loss, split ends, dry hair and itchy scalp. It is enriched with a good source of panthenol and other nutrients that stimulate proper hair growth, strengthen your hair tresses and manage your hair split ends.

  • Brew 2 cups of green tea normally and pour it into an empty spray bottle.
  • Spray this mix onto your hair from roots to tip and massage it gently on your hair.
  • Let it sit for about 20 – 30 minutes and rinse off your hair with a regular shampoo.
  • Also, you can use any flavored green tea to add a nice fragrance to your hair.

Note: Or mix 1 cup each of aloe vera juice and green along with few drops of essential oil in a bowl. Stir well and pour it into a spray bottle. Spray it on your hair and scalp to promote healthy hair growth.

Product – 3: (Green Tea Dandruff Remover)

This remedy will help to remove dandruff, soothes the dry or irritated scalp, stimulates hair growth and adds shine to your hair.

  • Pour 1 cup of water in a pan and boil it.
  • Then add 2 tablespoons of green tea leaves, 3 – 4 tablespoons of organic coconut oil and 1 lemon peel in that water.
  • Boil it for 2 – 4 minutes and turn off the heat.
  • Allow the mix to cool down completely.
  • Apply this on all over your scalp and hair using a cotton ball.
  • Massage it gently for few minutes and leave it on for 45 – 60 minutes.
  • Then rinse your hair with shampoo and conditioner.
  • Continue doing the same process for 3 – 4 times a month for effective results.

Product – 4: (Green Tea Hair Conditioner)

This hair conditioner moisturizes your scalp and nourishes your hair to make it shiny. Regular usage will help to prevent hair loss and also stimulate healthy hair growth.

  • Place 2 green tea bags in 1 cup of hot water (or boil 3 – 4 tablespoons of green tea leaves in 1 cup of water).
  • After preparing green tea, add 1 tablespoon each of raw honey and coconut oil to it.
  • Stir all these ingredients and apply it on your scalp and hair thoroughly.
  • Massage for few minutes and let it sit for 30 – 45 minutes.
  • Finally, rinse off your hair with warm water and shampoo.
  • Applying this conditioner regularly will help to get rid of dry scalp, itchy scalp and hair loss.

Product – 5: (Hair Growth Mask)

This hair mask is a combination of egg and green tea which in turn are essential for a healthy hair growth. An egg has proteins and green tea has catechins which in turn contain 5 – alpha – reductase inhibiting properties that block dihydrotestosterone (DHT) to prevent hair loss.

  • Whip and egg and mix 2 tablespoons of strong green tea in it.
  • Beat it well and apply this mix as your hair mask.
  • Be sure that you’re hair has to completed covered with this mask and for this, you can increase the quantities.
  • Leave it on for about 30 – 45 minutes and rinse off with shampoo followed by warm water.
  • Regular follow – up of this process for twice a week will help you to make your hair stronger and healthier.

Product – 6: (Green Tea Hair Shampoo)

This herbal shampoo will cleanse your hair to remove dust, impurities and excess oil or dead cell buildup on the scalp. It also conditions your hair to soothe psoriasis, eczema and other irritations on the scalp.

  • Place 2 green tea bags in 1 cup of hot water and let it steep for 25 minutes.
  • Allow it to cool down to reach normal room temperature.
  • Then mix 1 tablespoon of olive oil and few drops of essential oil in 1 cup each of castile soap and green tea water.
  • Stir well and use this mix as a shampoo to your hair.
  • Repeat the usage of this herbal shampoo regularly to get relief from hair problems and to enhance healthy hair growth.

Product – 7: (Matcha Green Tea Butter)

This tea butter is loaded with amino acids, moisturizers and proteins which help for hair growth, soothes your scalp, repair your damaged hair and protect it from harmful UV rays or pollution.

  • Mix 2 – 3 tablespoons of finely ground matcha tea with enough coconut oil or shea butter till it forms a butter consistency.
  • Apply this butter on your scalp and massage it gently to spread all over your scalp.
  • Wait for 30 minutes and rinse off with water.
  • Dry your hair and style it as usual.
  • Repeat it regularly till you get relief from the hair problems.

  • Mix 2 – 3 tablespoons of fresh aloe vera gel, 2 tablespoons each of yogurt and olive oil and 1 tablespoon of honey in a bowl.
  • Stir all these ingredients and apply it on the scalp.
  • Massage it gently on the scalp and hair for 10 – 15 minutes.
  • Leave it for another 25 – 30 minutes and rinse your hair.
  • Regular follow-up of this mask for 3 – 4 times a month will promote smooth and shiny hair growth.

Aloe Vera with Olive Oil and Yogurt for Smooth and Shiny Hair

Note: Or mix 1 teaspoon each of organic coconut oil and fresh lemon juice in 3 teaspoons of aloe vera gel. Apply it on the hair and massage for a couple of minutes. Rinse your hair after 20 minutes.

Mask – 2: (Aloe Vera with Lemon Juice for Hair Loss)

  • Extract aloe vera gel from an aloe leaf and squeeze half a lemon in a bowl.
  • Pour this mix into a blender and blend it for a minute or two.
  • Apply it on your hair and scalp and massage gently for few minutes.
  • Wash your hair thoroughly after 20 – 30 minutes.
  • Repeat it regularly to prevent hair loss and to enhance healthy hair growth.

Mask – 3: (Aloe Vera with Coconut Oil and Honey for Dry Hair)

Dry hair will result in dandruff, itchy scalp, hair loss and finally results in hair damage. This is hydrating hair mask that nourishes your hair deeply and prevents dry hair.

  • Mix 2 tablespoons of raw honey, 3 tablespoons of coconut oil in 4 – 5 tablespoons of fresh aloe vera gel in a bowl.
  • Stir well and apply this mix on your hair from root to tip direction as a hair mask.
  • Leave it on for about 30 – 45 minutes and rinse off with your regular shampoo.
  • Continue doing the same process regularly to get rid of dry and dull hair.

Mask – 4: (Aloe Vera with Tea Tree Oil and Rosewater for Dandruff)

DIY Aloe Vera Hair Masks for a Healthy Hair

Tea tree oil has antimicrobial properties that fight against the microbes causing dandruff. Aloe vera has soothing properties against the itching and redness caused due to dandruff. Rosewater soothes the irritated scalp and hair.

  • Mix 5 – 7 drops of tea tree oil and 1 – 2 teaspoons of rose water (for serum consistency) in 2 tablespoons of aloe vera gel.
  • Stir well and apply it on your scalp by massaging thoroughly.
  • Let it sit for few minutes and rinse off your hair with water.
  • Do the same process for thrice a week till you get relief from dandruff and damaged hair.

Note: Or mix 2 tablespoons of raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar and 1 tablespoon of organic honey in 1 cup of aloe vera gel. Apply it on your strands and roots and rinse off your hair after few hours.

Mask – 5: (Aloe Vera with Castor Oil and Fenugreek for Hair Growth)

Castor oil strengthens your hair roots, reduces the stress and grows your hair faster. Fenugreek contains hormone antecedents which rebuild your hair follicles and thus promotes faster hair growth.

  • Mix 2 teaspoons each of basil powder, fenugreek powder and castor oil in 1/2 cup of aloe vera gel.
  • Stir it and apply it on all over the scalp at night before bedtime.
  • Massage it gently for few minutes and leave it on for overnight.
  • Shampoo your hair in the next morning and continue doing it for once a week to get healthy hair growth.

Note:

  • Or mix 2 tablespoons each of castor oil and powdered fenugreek in 1 cup of aloe vera. Apply it on the scalp and hair. Cover your head with a shower cap and leave it for overnight. Rinse off in the morning to promote a healthy hair growth.
  • Or mix 1/4 cup of wheat germ oil and 1/2 cup each of coconut milk and aloe vera gel in a bowl. Massage it all over your hair and scalp. Rinse off your hair after 30 – 45 minutes with water.

Mask – 6: (Aloe Vera with Egg for Hair Conditioner)

An Egg has proteins and other essential nutrients that nourish and condition your hair. Aloe vera adds shine to your hair.

  • Whip an egg in 1/2 cup of fresh aloe vera gel thoroughly.
  • Apply it on your hair and scalp and let it sit for about 15 – 20 minutes.
  • Rinse your hair with cool water and repeat it regularly as a natural hair conditioner to your hair.

Note: Or mix equal parts of aloe vera and olive oil and apply it on your hair. Rinse off with a mild shampoo after 30 – 45 minutes for deep clean conditioner and to add volume to your hair.

Mask – 7: (Aloe Vera with Hibiscus Flower for Split Ends and Damaged Hair)

Hibiscus rejuvenates your scalp, stimulate proper circulation and enhance the hair growth. This combination helps to keep your hair healthy by repairing the damaged ends and prevents split ends.

  • Mix 2 tablespoons of hibiscus flower paste in 1 cup of aloe vera gel.
  • Blend it well till you get a fine paste.
  • Apply this paste on the hair as a mask and wait for 30 – 45 minutes.
  • Rinse off with water and reapply this mask regularly to get rid of split ends and also to enhance your hair growth.

Tips and Precautions:

  1. Direct application of aloe vera gel on the hair will help to treat itchy or dry scalp and other hair or scalp problems and thus nourishes your hair.
  2. Wash the aloe leaves thoroughly with water before using them for your hair treatment.
  3. Always use freshly squeezed aloe vera gel for hair treatments and if it is not available then choose organic aloe vera gel or juice available in your health or food stores.
  4. Avoid overusing lemon juice on your hair, as it lightens your hair’s color. So, replace honey instead of lemon juice to moisture your hair.
  5. Regular application of aloe vera oil on the hair will help you to get rid of many hair problems and promotes healthy hair growth.
  6. Aloe vera might cause some allergic reaction in some people. So, do some skin patch test before applying on hair or scalp and regularize its application if you didn’t find any allergic reaction.
  7. Consult your doctor if you didn’t find any relief from your hair or scalp problems.

How to make Deep Hair Conditioner Naturally

Homemade Natural Deep Hair Conditioner:

Here are the 5 effective natural deep hair conditioner are explained. Try these conditioners to get relief from dry, dull and frizzy hair.

Conditioner – 1: (Banana with Coconut and Honey)

Banana contains potassium and all other essential nutrients that restore the hair’s natural elasticity to reduce breakage, moisture your hair and strengthen hair.

Coconut milk has antioxidants and essential fats which condition your hair, locks its volume and protects your hair with its proteins and oils.

Honey acts as a natural humectant that hydrates your hair with essential moisture. It has rich content of B vitamins, Iron and zinc which promotes healthy hair growth.

Coconut oil has a great source of vitamin E and essential fatty acids that reduce keratin loss, encourage growth and moisturizes your hair to keep your hair shiny and healthy.

  • Peel off an overripe banana and cut it into pieces.
  • Place the banana pieces in a bowl and add 2 tablespoons each of coconut milk and honey and 1 ½ tablespoons of melted coconut oil in it.
  • Pour this mix into a blender and blend it till you get a smooth paste.
  • Use this paste as your conditioner to prevent dry, frizzy and tangled hair.
  • To use, dampen your hair and apply it on all over your hair.
  • Massage it gently for few minutes and cover it with a plastic / shower cap.
  • Let it sit for 30 minutes – 2 hours and then rinse your hair using shampoo and lukewarm water.
  • Dry your hair thoroughly and repeat using this deep conditioner for once a week.

Homemade Natural Deep Hair Conditioner

Note:

  • Or add few drops of lavender oil or any essential oil in this conditioner for pleasant odor and facilitates hair growth.
  • Also, add 1/4 cup of yogurt, 2 tablespoons each of organic honey and olive oil to 1 mashed ripe banana mix. Stir well and apply it as a mask on your hair. Place a shower cap and rinse off with shampoo and conditioner after 45 – 60 minutes.
  • Or mix 1 ripe avocado, 1/2 can of coconut milk, 1/4 cup each of mayonnaise and honey in 1/2 mash ripe banana. Blend all these ingredients and apply it on the hair and scalp. Cover your hair and rinse off with cool water after few minutes.

Conditioner – 2: (Egg with Natural Oil)

Eggs are rich in protein, fats and nutrients which help to restore the moisture and nourish your hair strands. Natural oils like olive oil or coconut oil or almond oil will not only moisture your damaged and frizzy hair but also provides the essential nutrients required for healthy hair growth.

  • Separate egg yolks from 2 eggs and place it in a bowl.
  • Then add 2 teaspoons of natural oil and 1/8 cup of water in it.
  • Stir well and apply this mix to all over your hair after shampooing.
  • Wait for 15 – 30 minutes and rinse off with cool water.
  • Repeat it for once or twice a week on regular basis to get rid of the dry hair problem.

Note:

  • Or simply whisk 2 eggs and add 2 teaspoons of natural oil in it. Stir well and apply it on your hair. Wait for few minutes and rinse off with a nourishing shampoo and conditioner.
  • Also, replace natural oil with vegetable oil (or) lukewarm water (or) baby oil (or) mayonnaise instead of natural oil.

Conditioner – 3: (Jojoba Oil with Coconut Oil and Tea Tree Oil)

Natural oils like jojoba oil and coconut oil help to moisturize the hair and promote healthy hair growth. Tea tree essential oil has antimicrobial and antiseptic properties that disinfect the scalp and make your hair grow healthy.

  • Mix 15 – 20 drops of tea tree oil, 4 tablespoons of jojoba oil and 8 tablespoons of coconut oil in a bowl.
  • Stir well and apply it on your wet hair thoroughly.
  • Cover your hair with a hot towel and leave it on for 15 minutes.
  • Wash your hair with nourishing shampoo and conditioner.
  • Repeat it regularly till you get complete relief from dull and damaged hair.

Note: Or mix 1 part of jojoba oil in 2 parts of distilled water in a bowl. Stir well by adding 3 – 5 drops of peppermint oil. Pour it in a spray bottle and spray it on your wet hair and spread it on your hair.

Conditioner – 4: (Avocado with Olive Oil)

Avocado has rich content of vitamin E that moisturizes and hydrates the frizzy hair. It also has proteins, essential fats, amino acids and nutrients that help for healthy and nourished hair growth. Olive oil naturally conditions your hair and makes it strong and shiny.

  • Mash a ripe avocado and then add 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil in it.
  • Stir well and keep it aside for few minutes.
  • In the meanwhile shampoo your hair and dry it slightly (damp hair).
  • Now, apply this mix as a mask on your hair thoroughly.
  • Allow it to sit for about 45 – 60 minutes and rinse off with cold water followed by conditioner.
  • Continue applying this mask regularly till you get rid of dry and frizzy hair.

Note:

  • Or mix 2 teaspoons of raw honey and 1 teaspoon of olive oil in 1 finely mashed avocado to make a smooth paste. Apply it on your hair and rinse off after 1 hour.
  • Also, mix 1/4 cup of olive oil, 1/2 cup of shea butter and 2 – 3 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in 1 finely mashed avocado. Stir well and apply it on your hair. Rinse off thoroughly after for 40 – 50 minutes.

Conditioner – 5: (Yogurt with Coconut Oil)

Coconut oil provides a deep moisturizing effect to the hair roots with its penetrating property. Yogurt has lactic acid that nourishes your hair and adds natural shine to it. Castor oil acts as a natural conditioner to prevent dry, itchy and frizzy hair.

  • Mix 1 tablespoon each of coconut oil and castor oil in 1 cup of yogurt.
  • Stir well and apply it on the hair as your yogurt conditioner.
  • Wear a shower cap to let your hair absorb this conditioner for about an hour.
  • After that, rinse off with water and dry your hair to have a smooth and shiny hair.
  • Do the same process regularly to clear your dry and dull hair problem.

Note: Or mix 1 tablespoon each of organic apple cider vinegar and raw honey in 2 tablespoons of coconut oil. Apply this mix on all over your hair as a mask and rinse off with natural shampoo after 20 – 30 minutes.

Tips and Precautions:

  1. Both olive oil and honey act as a deep conditioner that locks the moisture and keeps it healthy. So, mix equal quantities of olive oil and honey and apply it on the hair, leave it for an hour and rinse off.
  2. For conditioning your extremely dry hair, mix 2 parts of olive oil in 3 parts of coconut milk. Apply it on the hair before your shower and rinse off after 30 – 45 minutes to get rid of the problem.
  3. Use apple cider vinegar as your final rinse after shampooing your hair by simply diluting it with equal quantities of water and rinse your hair to lock the moisture.
  4. Regular massage of your hair with warm natural oils like coconut oil, olive oil or almond oil on all over your hair and scalp will help to get relief from dry and frizzy hair.
  5. Use mayonnaise (occasionally) as your hair conditioner will help you to get relief from dry and frizzy hair.
  6. Avoid over usage of blow dryers and also hot water showers, as it dries out your moisture and makes them too dry and frizzy.
  7. Avoid combing your wet hair or washing your hair frequently or using harsh chemical based hair products, etc. to get rid of dull and damaged hair.
  8. Always use the natural ingredients rather than supplements on hair and also rinse your hair thoroughly with water.
  9. Drink plenty of water and consume a healthy diet (include fresh fruits and vegetables) in your daily diet.
  10. Applying vitamin E oil regularly on your hair will help to prevent dry and damaged hair.
  11. It’s better to use sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) free shampoo and conditioners to moisture your hair. Also, you can use beer based shampoos occasionally to restore the moisture levels on your hair.

  • Mix 1 teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil and few drops of any essential oil in 2 tablespoons of coconut oil.
  • Stir well till it becomes like a whipped cream.
  • Apply a small amount of this cream to your hair.
  • Leave it for 45 – 60 minutes to overnight and rinse it off.
  • Regular usage will make your hair strong and shiny.

Product – 2: (Coconut Oil Shampoo)

This is one of my favorite coconut oil recipes for hair care, as it leaves the hair soft and healthy along with treating the scalp problems.

  • Melt 1/3 cup each of organic coconut oil and coconut milk (fresh or canned) in a pan over low heat for few minutes.
  • Turn off the heat and pour this mix into a bottle.
  • Add 1 cup of liquid castile soap and secure the bottle with its lid.
  • Shake it well and then add 50 drops of your favorite essential oils in it.
  • Shake well till all the ingredients are mixed and use it as your natural shampoo on your hair.
  • To apply, squeeze this shampoo on your hair directly, rub all over your hair to get the lather and rinse off thoroughly.

Note:

  • This natural shampoo is not as thick as commercial shampoos and also won’t produce lather like commercial ones.
    Prefer using lavender, peppermint, wild orange, rosemary, lemongrass or clary sage essential oils.
  • For fine hair, reduce the amount of coconut oil and for thick dry or curly hair, add few drops of avocado oil to the shampoo.

Product – 3: (Coconut Oil Conditioner)

Coconut oil acts as a conditioner for your hair and here we are mixing coconut oil with vitamin E oil and jojoba oil for extra nourishment that treats dry, flaky, itchy and damaged hair.

  • Mix 1 tablespoon each of vitamin E oil and jojoba oil and 10 drops of any essential oil in 2/3 cup of coconut oil.
  • Stir all these ingredients till it forms as a smooth and creamy conditioner.
  • Store it in a glass jar with a proper lid.
  • Use this coconut oil conditioner after rinsing your hair with coconut oil shampoo.
  • To apply, take 1 – 2 teaspoons of conditioner and spread it all over your hair.
  • Let it penetrate your hair and then rinse off with water after few minutes.
  • Regular follow-up will help to prevent dry and dull hair.

Product – 4: (Coconut Hair Oil)

Coconut oil itself is excellent hair oil that promotes hair growth, treats dry, flaky and damaged hair.

  • Comb your hair gently and apply melted coconut oil on the hair at night before bed time.
  • Massage it for few minutes to saturate the oil from the roots to tip.
  • Cover your hair using a shower cap or any plastic cover.
  • Leave it on for overnight and rinse off your hair thoroughly with mild shampoo in the morning.
  • Continue doing this process for once or twice a week depending on your hair damage.

Note:

  • Or use warm coconut oil rather than normal oil to grab maximum benefits.
  • Also, mix coconut oil with other carrier oil or essential oils to get rid of hair problems and to promote healthy hair growth.

Product – 5: (Coconut Oil as Hair Color)

Coconut oil acts as a great base for natural hair colors with its deep penetrating property into the hair shaft.

  • Mix 2 tablespoons of organic coconut oil and 1 tablespoon of spent coffee grounds in 1 cup of strong coffee.
  • Stir it well and apply it on your hair thoroughly.
  • Let it sit for about 45 – 60 minutes but the longer you leave, the darker will be the results.
  • Finally, rinse off and style it as you desired.

Note: To get blonde hair or add highlights, mix 1/4 cup each of lemon juice and coconut oil in 1/2 cup of strong chamomile tea. Apply on your hair from roots to tip and cover with a shower cap. Use a hair dryer or sit in the sun to keep your cap warm for 50 – 80 minutes and rinse off.
