1. Tea Tree Essential Oil

What You Need:

  • Tea tree oil – 5 drops
  • Jojoba oil – ¼ cup
  • Small container

  • Take a small container with tea tree oil and jojoba oil.

When you’re in a hurry (no free time), this is the simple way to get relief from the dark armpits. Here the water will reduce the acidic nature of ACV and it is the best remedy widely used by the people with dry or sensitive skin.

  • Mix 2 – 3 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in 1 cup of water.
  • Stir well and use this water to rinse your underarms.
  • Wait for 5 minutes and take your shower (or bath).
  • Do it daily until you get rid of dark and smelly armpits.

Apple Cider Vinegar with Water for Dark Underarms

Note: 

  • Or dilute ACV with an equal amount of water and soak a cotton pad in this mixture to apply it on the armpits. Rinse off with lukewarm water after 10 – 15 minutes to reduce dark patches and soften the skin (prefer to apply it on the underarm skin after your shower).

Wait for few minutes to get dry completely till it cracks and flakes off. Repeat it 3 – 4 times daily to alleviate the symptoms of itching and swelling and clear the rashes on the skin.
  • Baking Soda Compress – It is a soothing compress that cure pain, itching, and swelling. It is the best remedy to treat rashes if you find the blisters are oozing out the liquid.   • You can replace lemon with tomato (salicylic acid will exfoliate the skin). Blend a large ripe tomato and mix enough besan in it to make a paste. Spread it on the face and rinse off with water after 20 minutes.
  • Never go out in the sun for 4 hours after trying this face mask, as lemon will make the skin as photo sensitive and darken your skin tone.

Mask – 3: (Gram Flour with Curd)

Curd (or yogurt) has an astringent property that closes your enlarged skin pores and thereby reduces the sebum production. It also has alpha hydroxy acid and lactic acid that exfoliate the skin to remove the dirt and excess oil.

  • Whisk 2 – 3 tablespoons of curd in a small bowl and add 2 tablespoons of gram flour to it.
  • Stir well to make a paste and apply it all over the face and neck as a mask.
  • Let it sit for 30 minutes and rinse your face and neck with lukewarm water.
  • Dry the skin and continue this face mask for once in every 2 days to get relief from oily skin.

Note: Or use milk instead of curd. Simply, stir 2 tablespoons of besan by adding enough milk till it forms a paste. Apply it on the face and rinse it off with lukewarm water after it dried completely. Do it once daily.

Mask – 4: (Gram Flour with Orange Peel)

Most of the people know that orange peel is one best remedy for treating oily skin, as it absorbs the excess oil from the skin with its rich content of vitamin C. It balances the oil production and thus prevents the skin from getting over oily or dryness.

  • Put 1 tablespoon each of gram flour and orange peel powder in a bowl.
  • Mix well by adding some water to make a fine paste.
  • Apply it on the face and neck thoroughly.
  • Massage gently for 5 – 7 minutes in circular motions.
  • Wait for 30 minutes and rinse with water.
  • Repeat the same for thrice a week on regular basis.

Gram Flour Scrub with Sugar:

  • Pour enough water in 2 tablespoons of gram flour in a bowl and stir well to make a paste.
  • Then add 1 tablespoon of sugar (prefer brown sugar) to it and mix well.

  • Massage gently with your fingers for up to 5 – 8 minutes.
  • Let it sit for 15 minutes and rinse off with water.

  • Continue this process for 2 – 3 times daily till you reduce the pain and swelling.

Note: Also, after soaking, dry your feet and massage the affected area gently with essential oil blend for getting quick relief.

Method – 3: (Juniper Essential Oil)

Juniper essential oil helps a lot in treating your pain and swelling with its anti-inflammatory and pain relieving properties, as I mentioned in the above.

  • Pour few drops of juniper oil in a small tub filled with lukewarm water.
  • Stir and dip your feet in this water and leave it for 15 – 20 minutes.
  • You will experience the relief from swelling within few minutes.
  • Repeat this foot soak once or twice daily.

Method – 4: (Essential Oil Blend)

Using more than one essential oil will help you in clearing the fluids stored in your limbs and thereby relieves your swollen ankles and legs.

  • Mix 1 drop each of lemon oil and geranium oil and 2 drops of lavender oil in your small tub filled with warm water.
  • Stir and dip your feet in this water, make sure that ankles and feet are properly dipped in water (check water level).
  • Soak your feet for 5 – 10 minutes (not more than 10 minutes) and dry it gently.
  • Repeat it once or twice daily.

Tips and Precautions:

  1. Pregnant women and children below 7 years should not use essential oils for treating any problem.
  2. If you’re suffering from swollen ankles, then place some stones or pebbles in the bottom of the tub and gently rub your soles over them to get extra relaxation but don’t do it if you’re suffering from swollen feet.
  3. Always keep your body well hydrated by drinking more of water to flush out the toxins, salt, and other impurities.
  4. Prefer to take an Epsom salt bath, which contains anti-inflammatory and skin soothing properties along with clearing the water retention in the body.
  5. Don’t wear tight clothes, as it can restrict the proper flow of blood to your limbs and thereby causes retention of water and fluids.
  6. Reduce the intake of salt, caffeinated or carbonated drinks and quit smoking and drinking alcohol, as it causes water or fluid retention and causes swelling.
  7. Consult your doctor or medical professional if you’re experiencing fever, shortness of breath, chest pain or any liver or heart problems while suffering from swollen ankles and feet for proper diagnose and treatment.
