Mask – 1: (Olive Oil with Baking Soda and Honey)

This face mask is suitable for all skin types. Olive oil penetrates deep into the skin, moisturizes properly, promotes elasticity and reduces blemishes to get a soft and smooth skin.

Honey tightens the skin pores, hydrates the skin to lock the moisture, fights against the microbes causing your skin problems and protects it from sun damage to prevent premature wrinkles.

Baking soda acts as an excellent exfoliant that removes excess oil, dirt and dead cells from the skin pores. It also reduces redness and boosts proper blood circulation to make skin glow naturally.

Steps to be followed…

  • Add 1 teaspoon each of extra virgin olive oil and baking soda and 1/2 teaspoon of honey in a bowl.
  • Stir well to make a fine paste.
  • Cleanse your face and pat dry by leaving it slightly damp.
  • Then apply this paste on the face and neck as a mask in a circular motion.
  • Let it sit for 10 – 15 minutes and rinse off with lukewarm water by scrubbing gently.
  • Pat your skin dry and repeat it once a week to maintain a soft and glowing complexion.

DIY Face Masks for Glowing Skin

Note:

  • Or simply mix 1 tablespoon each of baking soda and honey. Apply this mask on the clean face for 10 – 15 minutes. Scrub your face gently for few minutes with your wet fingers. Do it twice daily for best results.
  • Alternatively, applying an exfoliating mask will give relief from a dry and dehydrated skin, as it restores the moisture to remove dryness. Mix 1/4 cup of baking soda and 2 teaspoons of cinnamon powder in 1/2 cup of raw honey. Stir and apply it on the clean skin. Rinse off after 15 – 20 minutes.

Mask – 2: (Avocado and Honey Mask)

Avocado is a great source of healthy fats and antioxidants which make it a super food for your skin. It moisturizes the skin and reduces the attack of free radicals on the skin cells.

Oatmeal acts as an exfoliator to remove dirt and dead skin cells in the skin pores. Apple cider vinegar balances your skin’s pH level and prevents the attack of microbes. Lemon juice brightens your complexion with its astringent property and honey soothes the skin.

Steps to be followed…

  • Mash 1/2 an avocado in a bowl and add 1/4 cup of uncooked oatmeal, 2 tablespoons of raw honey, 1 tablespoon of organic apple cider vinegar and 1 teaspoon of fresh lemon juice in it.
  • Stir well all these ingredients and spread this paste on the clean face as a mask.
  • Leave it on for few minutes till the mask dries and rinse off with water.
  • Continue this mask for once or twice a week regularly to get a soft and supple skin.

Note:

  • Alternatively, mix 1 teaspoon of yogurt and few lemon drops in 1 mashed ripe avocado. Stir well and apply it all over the face and rinse off after 20 minutes with cold water.
  • Or simply mix 2 teaspoons of raw honey in 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice. Apply it on the face and dry it for 20 – 30 minutes. Rinse off with lukewarm water and dry your skin.

Mask – 3: (Banana and Honey Mask)

This face mask works wonder for the people those who have oily and acne prone skin without forming scars on the skin. Banana has antioxidants and potassium along with other nutrients that combat acne and remove excess oiliness from the skin pores.

Honey moistures the skin and when mixed with cinnamon helps to reduce dark spots and scars.

Steps to be followed…

  • Mash 1/2 a ripe banana in a bowl and add 2 tablespoons of raw honey and 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon powder in it.
  • Stir well and spread it on the freshly cleansed face and neck.
  • Let it sit for 10 – 15 minutes and wash with lukewarm water followed with cold water.

  • Or else mix 3 teaspoons of raw honey in 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon powder to make a paste. Apply it on the face and rinse off after 20 – 30 minutes.
  • Or simply rinse your face with lukewarm water and apply honey on your face. Rinse off after 20 minutes with lukewarm water followed with cold water.

Mask – 4: (Strawberry with Yogurt Mask)

This mask works wonders on your dry and dull skin by providing essential hydration. Strawberries are packed with vitamin C, salicylic acid and acts as a gentle exfoliant for dry skin when mixed with oats. Yogurt soothes the skin by providing essential moisture and makes it smooth and shiny.

Steps to be followed…

  • Blend 1/4 cup of dry rolled oats into powder form and take it out into a bowl.
  • Then add 3 mashed strawberries, 3 tablespoons of plain yogurt and 2 tablespoons of honey in that bowl.
  • Stir well and apply on the clean face and neck thoroughly.
  • Wait till the mask dries and wash it with warm water.
  • Dry your skin and apply your favorite toner and serum for instant glowing skin.

Note:

  • Or simply, add 2 tablespoons of raw honey, 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a mashed ripe strawberry to make a paste. Apply it on the clean face and rinse off when once it dries.
  • Or add 1 tablespoon of organic honey in 7 – 8 freshly mashed strawberries. Apply this pack on the face and rinse off after 20 – 30 minutes.

Mask – 5: (Grapefruit with Egg White Mask)

Grapefruit, a citrus fruit has natural bleaching property that lightens the skin and works with the collagen to prevent skin’s elasticity. Egg white has proteins that fade away the hyper-pigmentation and acne scars on the skin.

Oatmeal exfoliates the skin and honey moistures the skin to give clear and fair complexion.

Steps to be followed…

  • Whip an egg white (from 1 egg) in a bowl.
  • Mix juice of 1/2 a grapefruit, 1 tablespoon of raw honey and 1/2 cup of oatmeal.
  • Then stir all these ingredients and spread it as a mask on the clean face and neck.
  • Allow it to sit for 15 – 20 minutes and rinse off with water.
  • Dry your skin and repeat the process regularly to maintain this smooth and glowing skin.

  • Or beat 1 egg white till it is fluffy and add 1 teaspoon each of freshly squeezed lemon juice and grapefruit juice and 2 teaspoons of sour cream in it. Stir well and spread it on the clean face. Rinse off after 15 – 20 minutes and dry your skin to apply moisturizer.
  • Or whip an egg white and add 1 teaspoon of honey and 1/2 teaspoon of fresh lemon juice in it. Stir well and apply it on the face. Wash it after 10 – 15 minutes.

Mask – 6: (Oatmeal and Honey with Chamomile Tea)

Heat from chamomile tea helps to open up the skin pores and removes dirt and bacteria. Honey moisturizes your skin to make it soft and supple. Oatmeal exfoliates and removes excess oil from the skin pores. Almond oil has rich content of vitamin E that provides many skin care benefits.

Steps to be followed…

  • Mix 2 tablespoons of organic honey, 2 – 4 drops of almond oil and 1/4 cup of oatmeal in 1 cup of freshly brewed chamomile tea.
  • Stir well and spread this mix on your damp skin.
  • Leave it on for 7 – 10 minutes and rinse off with cold water to feel refreshed.

Mask – 7: (Aloe Vera and Honey)

Aloe vera acts as a natural astringent that removes dead cells, excess oil, tighten up your skin pores and provides a healthy glowing skin. Both honey and aloe vera have soothing and moisturizing properties that repair your damaged skin to get refreshed.

Steps to be followed…

  • Mix 2 teaspoons of organic honey with 1 teaspoon of freshly squeezed aloe vera gel.
  • Stir well and apply it on the face thoroughly.
  • Wait till the mask dries and wash your face with water.
  • Dry your skin and repeat it regularly to sooth the rashes and irritation on the skin and to make your skin soft and glowing.

Note: Or simply mix 1 tablespoon of aloe vera gel, 2 tablespoons of milk cream and a pinch of turmeric. Stir well and apply evenly on the clean face and neck. Rinse with lukewarm water after 20 – 30 minutes.

Method – 8: (Turmeric and Sandalwood Mask)

Turmeric is an effective ayurvedic medicine used as antibiotic, skin whitener, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory which helps to treat many skin problems. Sandalwood soothes the skin and removes scars.

This mask will give instant glow with long lasting results. So, follow it regularly.

Steps to be followed…

  • Mix 1 tablespoon each of sandalwood powder and turmeric powder in 3 tablespoons of rose water.
  • Stir well and spread this paste on the clean face and neck.
  • But be sure that this mask should not get into your eyes. If happened, unfortunately then rinse off immediately with water.
  • Wait for 20 minutes till the mask dries and rinse off with water.
  • Do the same process regularly to get complete relief from the problem.

Note:

  • Or add 1 teaspoon each of raw milk and honey in 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric powder. Stir well and apply it on the clean face. Dry for 10 minutes and rinse off with cool water and a mild facial cleanser.
  • Or else add fuller’s earth to this turmeric and sandalwood paste before applying.
  • Also, mix 2 tablespoons of gram flour and 1/2 tablespoon of turmeric in enough yogurt. Apply on the face and neck and wash with lukewarm water after 20 – 25 minutes.

Mask – 9: (Papaya and Honey)

Papaya has rich beta – carotene, powerful papain enzyme and other phytochemicals that slow down the wrinkles, combat free radicals attack, reduces the blemishes and scars and thus lightens up your skin.

It is also rich in vitamins A & C, AHA and potassium that deeply cleanses your skin pores to prevent skin problems.

Steps to be followed…

  • Cut 1/2 part of papaya and peel it off properly.
  • Remove the seeds and cut it into small pieces.
  • Blend these pieces by adding 1 tablespoon of raw honey in it.
  • Apply this mix on your clean face and neck as a mask.
  • Rinse off with water after 30 – 45 minutes.
  • Repeat it regularly to get a fair glowing skin.

Note:

  • Or add 1/2 teaspoon of fresh lemon juice, 1 tablespoon of honey in 1/4 piece of a papaya. Blend it and apply it on the face. Wait for 15 minutes and rinse with lukewarm water and cold water.
  • Also, peel and blend these ingredients like 1/4 piece of ripe papaya, 1/2 a banana and 1/4 cucumber to make a paste. Apply it on the face and rinse after 15 minutes with warm water followed by cold water.

Mask – 10: (Orange Peel and Honey)

Orange peel has antioxidant, astringent and vitamin C content which make it as a natural skin whitener. But be sure that it causes some drying and stinging sensation on dry or sensitive skin people.

Steps to be followed…

  • Grate fresh peel of an orange and mix with 1 tablespoon of honey.
  • Then add 1/2 tablespoon of turmeric powder in it.
  • Stir well and apply it on your clean face and neck.
  • Leave for 30 minutes and rinse off with cold water.
  • Also, add your favorite clay pack in this face mask for added advantages.
  • Dry your skin and apply some moisturizer to prevent dryness.
  • Regular follow-up of this mask will help to brighten and lighten the skin.

Tips and Precautions:

  1. Even tomato helps for skin whitening with its antioxidant and astringent properties along with a rich content of vitamins (A, B & C), potassium and magnesium. Mix 2 teaspoons of tomato juice in 3 teaspoons of buttermilk. Apply on face and neck. Rinse off after 30 minutes.
  2. For best results, rinse your face to remove make-up or any dirt on the skin before applying any face mask.
  3. Also, steam your face before applying the face mask for deep penetration of mask into skin pores.
  4. Rinsing your face with lukewarm water followed with cold water will help to close the pores and lightens your facial skin.
  5. Always it’s recommended to rinse your face and neck before going to bed (or take shower) to prevent the damage caused on the skin pores.

Turmeric for Every Skin Problem

Turmeric, a golden spice and an all natural skin care ingredient which can be applied topically for getting rid of many skin problems. In Indian Ayurveda, turmeric has given an excellent place for treating many skin problems with its amazing properties. It exhibits antibiotic, antiseptic, astringent and anti-inflammatory properties.

It has vitamin B6 which helps for new skin cell formations and thus keeps your skin healthy. Vitamin C helps for the buildup of collagen and maintain proper skin elasticity. Potassium hydrates and moistures the skin and finally magnesium slows down the aging process and gives radiant skin glow.

Here we are going to know how turmeric is used to treat some skin related problems. Let’s have a look at those problems and turmeric solutions.

For Oily Skin:

Turmeric is very effective in regulating the production of sebum (an oily substance that produced by the sebaceous gland) to prevent excess oil on the skin. Sandalwood in this process acts as an astringent and orange juice has a rich source of vitamin C which helps to clear breakouts or blemishes.

Steps to be followed…

  • Add 1 ½ tablespoons of sandalwood powder and 1/8 teaspoon of turmeric powder in a bowl.
  • Stir well by adding 3 tablespoons of orange juice to make a fine paste.
  • Apply it on the skin, especially on the face as a mask and let it sit for about 10 – 15 minutes.
  • Then wash off with lukewarm water and pat dry your skin.
  • Repeat the same process regularly till you get rid of oily skin.

Turmeric for Oil Skin

For Dry Skin:

Turmeric, when mixed with egg white and olive oil will exhibit a hydrating and nourishing mask to the skin for clearing dry and damaged skin.

Steps to be followed…

  • Combine 1 egg white, 2 drops of olive oil, a pinch of turmeric, fresh lemon juice, and rose water.
  • Stir it to make a fine paste and apply it on the skin where you feel dry like face, neck, knees, and elbows as a mask.
  • Let it dry for few minutes and rinse off with warm water.
  • Continue applying this paste daily to get hydrated and moisturized skin.

Note: Alternatively, prepare a mix of turmeric with milk, oatmeal, and honey to make a fine paste. Apply it on the face and neck as a mask and rinse off after it dries to get rid of a dry and dull skin.

For Clearing Skin Pigmentation and Tanning:

Turmeric with its amazing skin whitening, skin soothing and antiseptic properties will help to clear the tanning and pigmentation.

Steps to be followed…

  • Mix enough fresh lemon juice in 1 – 2 tablespoons of turmeric powder to make it a fine paste.
  • Apply it on the affected areas of the skin and leave it for 20 – 30 minutes.
  • Rinse off with water and dry your skin gently.
  • Repeat it regularly to get relief from skin pigmentation and tanning.

Note:

  • Or use cucumber juice instead of lemon juice and follow the same process.
  • Alternatively, mix 1 teaspoon each of dark brown sugar and tomato juice, 1/2 teaspoon of fresh lemon juice, 1/8 teaspoon of turmeric and a little of warm green tea. Apply it on the skin for 10 – 15 minutes and exfoliate your skin to get rid of dark hyperpigmentation of the skin.
  • Or mix 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric, 1 teaspoon of lemon juice and 2 teaspoons of yogurt in 3 teaspoons of gram flour to make a paste. Apply it on the area which is tanned as a pack. Wash off with water after 20 minutes to vanish your suntan. Avoid using soap for 5 hours after using this pack on the skin.

Turmeric as a Night Cream:

Turmeric helps to clear blemishes, scars, prevents signs of aging and lightens the skin to glow with an even skin tone. Milk (or yogurt) helps to moisture the skin along with tightening it. So, this night cream is very effective in treating your skin problems and making your skin look young and beautiful.

Steps to be followed…

  • Mix turmeric powder with milk (or yogurt) to make a fine paste.
  • Apply it on the face as a mask at night before bedtime.
  • Leave it for overnight and rinse off in the next morning with a light cleanser.
  • Repeat it twice a week to get healthy and young looking skin.

Note: Alternatively, apply a mixture prepared by adding a pinch of turmeric to your moisturizer and cleanse it in the next morning.

For Treating Certain Skin Conditions:

Turmeric is very effective in treating certain skin conditions like poison ivy, psoriasis, and eczema which are quite itchy and painful. Turmeric has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties that help you to get rid of redness, pain, and infection.

Steps to be followed…

  • Mix turmeric (prefer Kasturi turmeric) with milk to make it a fine paste.
  • Apply it on the skin where you’re suffering from the problem.
  • Massage it gently and let it sit for few minutes.
  • Rinse off with lukewarm water to soothe the skin and to reduce the redness and inflammation.
  • Regular application will definitely help you to get relief from these skin problems.

For Brighter or Glowing Skin:

Turmeric has potassium, magnesium and other essential nutrients that help to give the best radiance to the skin and provides an even tone to the skin. Milk softens and nourishes the skin along with exfoliates the skin to clear dead cells. Honey soothes the skin and cleanses it to lighten up the skin scars.

Steps to be followed…

  • Cleanse your face and neck with a gentle cleanser to remove all the dirt and makeup.
  • Rinse with warm water to open your pores and pat dry it.
  • Mix 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric powder to 1 teaspoon each of milk and honey to make it a fine paste.
  • Apply it on the face and neck as a mask and leave it on for few minutes to dry.
  • Rinse off with cool water and a mild facial cleanser.
  • Repeat it regularly to get rid of dark and uneven skin tone.

Note:

  • Or apply a mixture prepared by mixing 1 tablespoon of gram flour, 1 teaspoon of turmeric, few drops of lemon juice and enough of milk to the clean face and neck for 15 – 20 minutes. Rinse off with lukewarm water followed by cold water to enjoy flawless skin.
  • Alternatively, mix 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric powder, 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice and 1 tablespoon of honey to make a paste. Apply it on the face and rinse off after it gets dried to get glowing skin.

For Smooth Skin:

To get rid of rough skin on the face which is caused due to blemishes and scars, turmeric helps a lot in nourishing the skin, moisturizes and leaves your skin smooth and radiant.

  • Slightly warm some raw honey and add turmeric and milk in it.
  • Stir well and apply it on the face and neck like a mask.
  • Let it sit for few minutes and rinse off with water.

Note: Or mix some chickpea flour, a pinch of turmeric and yogurt in a bowl. Apply it on the skin and rinse off.

  • Stir well and drink this tea to reduce cellulite from inside the body.
  • Consume this tea 3 times daily for 1 – 2 months will help to reduce cellulite and excess body weight.

Note: Or simply mix 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper and 1/2 cup of coffee grounds in 1/4 cup of olive oil to make a fine paste. Rub it on the cellulite visible areas of the skin and wait for 10 minutes. Take shower and do it for 3 times a week.

4. Apple Cider Vinegar:

Apple cider vinegar (ACV) has many essential nutrients, enzymes and live bacteria that helps a lot in flushing out the toxins from the body and also reduces the water retention to prevent cellulite.

Steps to be followed…

  • Dilute 1 part of raw, organic apple cider vinegar with 2 parts of water.
  • Stir well by adding a little of honey in it and drink this mix to get rid of cellulite and overweight.

Note:

  • Or else, apply this ACV – honey and water mix on the affected areas and rub gently. After 30 minutes, rinse off with warm water. Repeat twice daily to get rid of the problem.
  • Or simply mix equal amounts of ACV and water. Rub it on the cellulite and cover the area with a plastic wrap and place a warm towel over the plastic wrap. Remove wrap after an hour and rinse with lukewarm water. Continue it for once a day.
  • Alternatively, mix 2 tablespoons of ACV in 1 teaspoon of raw honey and consume it for twice daily.

5. Detox Baths:

Detox baths help you to get relax yourself, relieve aches and wash away the toxins from the skin to prevent irritation.

Steps to be followed…

  • Add 1/4 cup each of Epsom salt, sea salt and baking soda in a bowl.
  • Stir well in a quart of water till they dissolve completely.
  • Then fill the bathtub with warm water and add 10 drops of any essential oil, 1/3 cup of cider vinegar and the above mixed dissolved salt water in it.
  • Stir well and soak yourself for about 30 – 60 minutes.
  • After that, rinse your skin with water and dry it thoroughly.
  • Repeat the same for once a week on regular basis to prevent cellulite.

Note:

  • Or add 2 cups of hydrogen peroxide, 1 tablespoon of powdered ginger in your bathtub which is filled with warm water. Soak for about 30 – 45 minutes and repeat regularly.
  • Alternatively, add 4 sheets of seaweed to your bathtub, filled with lukewarm water. Soak yourself in this water for 20 – 25 minutes and repeat it twice a week.

Tips and Precautions:

  1. Stay hydrated, consume healthy fats and water rich fruits and vegetables, sleep for 7 – 8 hours, do an overall body workout, green tea, reduce stress with yoga and meditation, etc. will help you to get rid of cellulite and overweight.
  2. You can also apply juniper oil by simply mixing 10 – 15 drops of juniper oil in 1/4 cup of olive oil and massage gently for 10 minutes and rinse off.
  3. Include omega – 3 fatty acids foods like salmon in your daily diet to reduce the buildup of harmful toxins in the blood vessels and improves blood circulation.
  4. Always try to maintain a proper balance of your hormone levels by avoiding omega – 6 polyunsaturated fats, caffeine and other supplements.
  5. Make sure to consult your doctor if you didn’t find any relief from this cellulite, as it might be due to some health problems.
  6. Apply organic virgin coconut oil to moisturize your skin and apply (or consume) tomatoes which has lycopene that prevents the breakdown of collagen in the skin and makes it look firm and smooth.
