DIY Body Wash using Coconut Oil and Honey

Using chemical based harsh soaps will damage your skin, didn’t you feel that damage? Then it’s time to shift to use a body wash rather than soap bar.

Don’t worried about those costly body washes? Here we are going to know how to make an amazing coconut oil body wash at home with easy ingredients in simple steps.

Before starting, remember that regular usage of homemade body wash will help you in living more natural life, avoids chemicals or toxins damaging your skin, easy to prepare and use, cost affordable and can be used for everyone in the home.

Ingredients used in making Homemade Body Wash:

Coconut oil – It has rich content of coco-nutrients that moisturizes the skin without clogging the skin pores and makes you feel fresh.

Raw honey – Honey is a well-known skin soother that moisturizes your skin, heals your marks or scars on the skin, restores the elasticity and prevents germs with its antibacterial properties. But always prefer raw and unfiltered honey.

Liquid castile soap – Pure liquid castle soap will make your body wash with enough suds (without adding any chemical based foaming agents. Always prefer using an unscented castile soap (or vegetable soap) for this body wash. It is gentle and non – toxic.

Essential oils – Essential oils helps to clear the skin with its antimicrobial and antiseptic properties. It soothes, heals, deodorize, disinfect and repair the skin.

Vitamin E oil – Vitamin E is essential for skin moisturizing and repairing. It fights against the free radicals damaging the cells with its antioxidant property. It is a most common ingredient used in many skin care products.

Coconut Oil with Honey Body Wash:

  • Melt 1/4 cup of virgin coconut oil by heating it indirectly.
  • Then add 1 teaspoon of vitamin E, 1/4 cup of raw honey, 10 – 15 drops of your favorite essential (or combinations of it) oil in it.
  • Stir well and slowly add 1/2 cup of liquid castile soap and stir gently.
  • Transfer this mix to a glass or plastic bottle for regular usage.
  • Shake well before each use and follow it regularly to get a soft and glowing skin.

Coconut Oil with Honey Body Wash

Note:

  • Or mix 2/3 cup of liquid castile soap, 1/4 cup of raw honey, 2 teaspoons of carrier oil (olive oil or sweet almond or jojoba or grapeseed oil), 1 teaspoon of vitamin E oil and 50 – 60 drops of essential oils. Pour it in a bottle and use it regularly.
  • Or use rosewater instead of honey and vitamin E oil while preparing your body wash.
  • Alternatively, mix 1/2 cup of coconut milk, 2/3 cup of castile soap, 3 teaspoons of vitamin E oil, 5 drops of lavender oil and 2 teaspoons of vegetable glycerin. Shake it well and use it regularly within a short span of time.

Tips and Precautions:

  1. This body wash will last longer for few months, as all the ingredients used in this wash have longer shelf life.
  2. Remember that this homemade body washes will not lather like commercial body washes. But they are effective in cleaning your skin and keeping it well hydrated.
  3. To get a thicker consistency, use a bit of sea salt or vegetable glycerin to your homemade body wash.

Mask – 1: (Egg White)

Lemon and honey used in this mask have antimicrobial properties that cleanse your pores, remove the dead cells and control the sebum production to clear blackheads.

  • Separate an egg white from 1 egg and whip it.
  • Then add 1/2 teaspoon of fresh lemon juice and 1 teaspoon of raw honey in it.
  • Stir well and apply it on the face as a mask by concentrating more on blackheads.
  • Leave it for few minutes to dry completely and rinse it off with warm water followed by cold water.

Note:

  • Or perform deep cleaning peel off mask by separating egg white from an egg and add 1 teaspoon of lemon juice to it. Whisk and apply it on the blackhead affected skin areas. Place a strip of facial tissue over it and apply another coat of egg white mixture over the tissue. Leave for few minutes to get dry. Now peel off the tissue and wipe off any residue with warm wash cloth.

Mask – 2: (Baking Soda)

  • Mix 2 teaspoons of activated charcoal and 1/2 teaspoon of bentonite clay in 1 ½ teaspoons of water.

  • Wipe your face with a washcloth soaked in warm water.

  • Let it cool for few seconds and apply this warm mix on the face carefully that not to apply near the eyebrows by using your clean fingertips or popsicle stick.
  • Allow it to sit for about 15 – 20 minutes and peel off the mask in the upward direction.
  • Be gentle on your skin and rinse off the remaining residue.
  • Dry your skin and apply a toner and moisturizer to soothe the skin and to protect it from drying.
  • Repeat it whenever you suffer from blackheads.

Note: Or stir 1 tablespoon each of raw honey and milk and warm it in the microwave for about 10 seconds till you get thick and sticky nature. Wait to cool and apply the mix on the face. Peel off the mask after 20 – 30 minutes and rinse it off with water.

Peel Off Mask – 2: (Turmeric with Mint and Gelatin)

Turmeric has antioxidant, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties that control the excess sebum and cleanse the skin pores. Mint gives you a soothing relief from irritation and loosens the skin pores. Gelatin gives sticky nature to the mask, which helps to pull off the mask easily to clear blackheads.

  • Prepare mint tea by boiling few fresh mint leaves in 1 cup of water and strain it.
  • Then take 2 tablespoons of mint tea and add 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric and 1 tablespoon of gelatin in it.
  • Stir well and let it cool to reach warm.
  • Apply it on the nose and other blackhead affected areas of the skin.
  • Wait for 15 minutes to peel off the mask and thereby to get rid of blackheads.
  • Finally, rinse your face with water and apply a moisturizer to keep your skin free from blackheads and dryness.

Tips and Precautions:

  1. Also, use some home remedies like mashed papaya with gram flour, scrub with fresh lemon juice, tomato pulp, honey, honey with lemon or cinnamon, etc. to get rid of blackheads.
  2. The face pack which has salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, alpha hydroxy acids (AHA), etc. will give you the best results against blackheads.
  3. Never ever pick or pop the blackheads with your fingers, as the dirt or bacteria from hands will get into the pores and makes it worse.

  • Pour 4 tablespoons of ground coffee beans and 8 tablespoons of pure olive oil in a small crock pot.
  • Cook on a medium to high heat for few minutes to few hours.
  • Stir occasionally and turn off the heat.
  • Strain the oil using cheesecloth and store it in a glass jar.

Avoid taking this coffee essential oil internally. Pregnant women and children should not use this oil without consulting their doctor. Also, conduct a skin patch test before using it.

  • Pull out the cloves from the garlic into several pieces.
  • Peel the skin of the garlic cloves and smash it slightly.
  • Then place these garlic cloves on a pan filled with 1 cup of natural oil.
  • Heat the oil and garlic on a low flame for 20 – 30 minutes and turn off the heat.
  • Remove the garlic cloves from oil and let the oil cool for few minutes.
  • Then dip a cotton ball in this garlic oil and dab it on the skin tags.
  • Cover it with a bandage and leave it on for few hours to overnight.
  • Remove it and rinse with lukewarm water.
  • Dry your skin and repeat the same to remove skin tags naturally.

Note: Or you can purchase garlic oil directly and apply it on the skin tags.

How Long Does Garlic take to remove Skin Tags?

It mainly depends on the immunity and the size of skin tags, as garlic has to work on both of these factors, which are very essential for removing skin tags now and in future. But be patience and use garlic continuously for 3 days, give a break of a day or two and repeat its application.

Tips and Precautions:

  1. Garlic might cause some irritation to the skin surrounding the skin tags. So, apply a thin layer of Vaseline or any other natural oils or moisturizers around the skin tags affected areas before using garlic for skin tags.
