Hi! I tried this DIY recipe and am wondering if I did it correctly. I added 4 tablespoons of freshly ground coffee beans to 8 tablespoons pure olive oil. I put this mixture in my crock pot for 4 hours on low heat, stirring occasionally, then strained through a cheesecloth. However, the final result ended up being much lighter in color, and weaker in scent than anticipated. I’m wondering if it’s supposed to be this mild or if I did something wrong? Should I have done high heat (my crockpot only has 2 settings- low and high), and/or for a longer amount of time? With nothing to compare it to, it’s hard to judge if this is what it’s supposed to look like, but when looking at pictures of homemade coffee oil online, what I ended up with is considerably lighter in color, even though I used a dark roast coffee bean. I was hoping to use this as an additive in my homemade soaps to give them that wonderful coffee aroma, but the oil I made smells so light, I doubt it will add any considerable scent to my soaps. Thanks for reading! Any help or advice you could give would be very appreciated!

Cook this mix for few more hours (6 – 8 hours) till you get that color, remember the longer the mix cooked, the stronger is the final product. Also, use roasted coffee beans for preparing this oil. coming to the aroma of coffee, as it is cooked for a longer time then it may loose its strong aroma.

Due to its thick consistency, castor oil is not preferred to use in preparing this homemade coffee oil.

Hey there! Im thinking about using sweet almond oil for the cold process infusion, but I was curious about the shelf life? I don’t want to make a big batch for myself if I won’t go through it in time. Thanks in advance! 🙂

Pour 1 cup of almond oil into this bottle. Keep it aside for about 2 weeks by shaking the bottle regularly. But make sure that not to prepare this coffee oil in large quantity.

It’s coffee essential oil. You can use it directly on the skin to grab its benefits. If you feel any irritation (due to sensitive skin) then dilute it with some carrier oils.

I love the oil I have made with fresh coffee grounds. Can I substitute or supplement with used coffee grounds? Of course I let them dry first. I can’t find information on how much caffeine is left after brewing coffee grounds. Thank you!

Coffee has a very strong aroma that gives fresh and calm feeling. Yes, you can use it as air freshener because it absorbs the other odour and neutralized bad smell.

Yes, coffee oil can be used as air freshener. Though it doesn’t have dense smell, it is capable of absorbing the other odor in the room. Or you can just place a bowl of coffee grounds on the table.
