Avocado Apple Smoothie

Avocado Apple Smoothie

This is a simple, healthy and flavourful smoothie loaded with goodness of apple, avocado and spinach. Avocado adds a rich and creamy texture to the smoothie without using any dairy. Avocados are a rich source of healthy fats (omega-3 fatty acids) while apple and spinach contain wholesome amount of dietary fiber that helps to keep you satiated and prevents the urge to overeat which in turn aids weight loss.

Dietary fiber also promotes detox and helps to provide glowing and clear skin. The thermogenic effect of ginger also aids weight loss and it is especially effective for burning belly fat. This smoothie can be consumed as a wholesome breakfast or lunch replacement.

Despite being a high calorie fruit, avocados have numerous health benefits. Antioxidants such as vitamins A, C, E found in avocados boost the immune system health and protect the cells against free radical damage. Monounsaturated fatty acids present in avocado lower unhealthy LDL cholesterol in the blood while raising healthy HDL cholesterol level.

Large amount of dietary fiber in avocados aids weight management by enhancing satiety and reducing hunger pangs. Fiber slows down the digestion process and promotes the release of appetite-suppressing hormones that also aid weight management. Avocado contains significant amount of folate (vitamin B9) that supports cell growth and production of new DNA.

Apples are yet another potent source of dietary fiber – both soluble and insoluble fiber that has numerous health benefits. Pectin, a specific type of soluble fiber present in apples slows down the digestion process by forming a gel-like structure in the intestine that increases the satiety and promotes the release of appetite-suppressing hormones.

Insoluble fiber present in apples aid digestion by regularizing bowel movement and preventing constipation. Apples also contain considerable amount of vitamin C that boosts immunity and prevents infections. Phytochemicals in apples may even prevent certain types of cancer.

Spinach is the healthiest of leafy green vegetables that contains high levels vitamin K, vitamin A, folate, iron and dietary fiber. Vitamin K, a rare nutrient found in spinach is essential for building strong and healthy bones because it aids bone mineralization.

This vitamin is also essential for proper blood coagulation. Spinach contains abundant amount of folate which is required for energy metabolism, maintaining nervous system health and synthesis of DNA.

Avocado Apple Smoothie

Vitamin A found in spinach helps to protect the cells against free radical damage and supports immune system, healthy skin and eyes. Spinach is a potent source of non-heme iron that supports the production of haemoglobin and prevents anemia.

Ginger is a powerful herb that is especially beneficial for treating digestive disorders. Ginger has the capacity to soothe the stomach and suppress nausea and vomiting. Anti-inflammatory benefits of ginger helps to relieve pain and discomfort associated with arthritis.

Lemon juice used in this smoothie not only adds a refreshing tangy taste and citrus flavor, but also provide wholesome amount of vitamin C that helps to reduce inflammation and protect the cells against free radical damage. Vitamin C also boosts collagen production and prevents premature skin aging.
