Cayenne pepper helps for the smooth flow of blood by expanding the blood vessels and clearing the platelets from clumping together. Capsaicin in these red peppers will help to stimulate new red blood cells, improves the blood structure and aids in detoxifying the blood (9).

  • The recommended dosage of cayenne pepper is 1 teaspoon per day and slowly increases the quantity up to 1 teaspoon for thrice daily. Simply sprinkle some cayenne pepper onto the fruit or vegetable salad or in a bowl of hot soup.
  • If you find the taste is too spicy then try taking capsaicin supplements by consulting your doctor.

Tip: Cayenne pepper is also a well-known remedy to stop bleeding fast. So, if you have a cut then try sprinkling some cayenne pepper over it.

Remedy – 8: (Hibiscus)

Note: Or add 1 – 2 teaspoons of dried hibiscus and 1 – 2 cinnamon sticks in 1 cup of hot water. Steep for 5 – 7 minutes and add lemon juice or honey to it. Stir and drink it 2 – 3 times daily.

Remedy – 9: (Hawthorn)

Hawthorn is used for treating cardiac, circulatory and respiratory disorders since ancient days. The berries act as excellent natural remedies to treat high blood pressure, chest pain, irregular heartbeats, heart failures, etc.

It contains flavonoids (antioxidants) that eliminate free radicals, dilate blood vessels and improve the flow of blood to protect the blood vessel damage and thereby lessen your blood pressure levels.

  • Pour 1/2 – 1 tablespoon of cinnamon powder and 4 tablespoons of hawthorn powder in a bowl.
  • Mix it well by adding enough honey and water till it forms a fine paste.
  • Then thicken the mixture by adding some cocoa powder until it forms a fine dough.
  • Now make this dough into small balls and place them on a cookie sheet.
  • Dry in an oven at low temperature (not more than 150 degrees F).
  • Take out and store it in a glass jar in a cool place.

Remedy – 10: (Omega – 3 Fatty Acids)

Omega – 3 is an excellent remedy that widely used to lower your blood pressure and cholesterol. The fish oil contains these essential fatty acids which in turn possess polyunsaturated fats derived from linolenic, linoleic and oleic acids (11).

The balanced ratio of omega – 3 and omega – 6 is 4:1 to 2:1 but most of the population is lacking in getting omega – 3 fatty acids. This omega – 3 is essential for reducing the inflammation, heart problems and preventing autoimmune diseases and lowers your blood pressure levels.

  • Consume omega – 3 fatty acid rich foods like salmon, canned tuna, sardines, trout, herring, and krill.
  • The daily dosage of this omega – 3 fatty acids is 1000 mg which you can take it as a supplement after consulting your doctor.

Other Effective Remedies:

  • The vitamin C content in lemon has the antioxidant property that neutralizes the harmful effects of free radicals and thereby keeps the vessels soft and pliable by removing the rigidity. So, consume 1 – 2 bananas daily along with dried apricots, currants, raisins, spinach, orange juice, baked sweet potatoes, winter squash, cantaloupe, etc. which are rich in potassium.
  • Staying hydrated is also essential for people who are suffering from hypertension. So, other than drinking plenty of water they also drink coconut water, which is rich in magnesium and potassium that reduces the systolic blood pressure. Also, use coconut oil for cooking.
  • The polyunsaturated fatty acids and omega – 6 fatty acids, vitamin E and sesamin in sesame oil help to lower the blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol levels, and cardiovascular disease. Include 1 ounce of sesame seeds or oil in your daily cooking and continue this for at least 2 – 3 months to reduce hypertension.
  • The cocoa in dark chocolate contains antioxidants (flavonoids, catechins or polyphenols) that dilate the blood vessels and makes the blood to circulate easily throughout the body. This will lower your blood pressure and reduces the risk of heart attacks or strokes. Eat dark chocolates which have 60 – 80% of cocoa to grab the flavonoids and to reduce the high blood pressure.

Getting water into the ears is a common thing that happens to anyone while taking a bath or swimming or shower. Generally, the wax in the ear canal prevents any fluid going deep inside the ear but sometimes, the fluid gets trapped in the ear.

However, the water can usually drain out on its own but if it doesn’t then it may lead to an infection called swimmer’s ear.

This results in a tickling sensation, redness and pain in the ear and if left untreated, the plugged ear can cause certain damages like hearing loss, eardrum inflammation, cyst formation and other complications.

Instead of using over the counter medications, try some natural ways to get rid of water from the ear at home. Have a look at these methods and use them to remove water from your ear.

Method – 1: (Valsalva Maneuver)

Performing this Valsalva maneuver will pop your ears to open up the Eustachian tubes (the place where fluids build up) and push out the water from your ears.

  • Take a deep breath and pinch your nostrils with your fingers and also close your mouth.
  • Then gently blow air out of your nose and you will hear a slight popping sound if done properly.
  • This process opens up the Eustachian tubes and thus regulates the air pressure.
  • But be sure that not blow your nose too hard, as it might damage the ear drum.

This process is an age old remedy that used to clear the fluids out from the ear. Vinegar has antibacterial and antiseptic properties that kill germs in the ear and removes the trapped water that caused due to earwax buildup. Rubbing alcohol dries out the water from inside the ear.

  • Mix 1 teaspoon each of vinegar and rubbing alcohol in a bowl.
  • Stir well and pour 2 – 3 drops of this mix into the affected ear using a dropper.
  • Gently rub the opening of the ear canal and leave it for 30 – 45 seconds.
  • Then tilt your head to drain out the fluid from your ear.
  • Repeat it whenever your ear is plugged with water.

Note: Avoid using this method if you’re suffering from an ear infection (or) a punctured eardrum (or) perforated eardrum or Eustachian tubes.

Method – 3: (Blow Dryer)

Blow dryer with its warm and dry air helps to speed up the evaporation of trapped fluids. It turns the water into steam and thus dissipates out of the ear.

  • Pull the earlobe and hold a blow dryer from 10 – 12 inches away from the ear.
  • Set the dryer from heat to warm and also set the air flow to low.
  • Turn on the dryer and place it straight to the ear canal.
  • Hold it in this position for 30 – 45 seconds but not more than that, as it dries your ear.
  • Repeat again till you get relief from the problem.

Note: Or garlic has an antibacterial property that prevents ear infection and reduces pain. Extract garlic juice and pour 2 – 3 drops of garlic juice in the affected ear. Wait for a minute and then blow dryer from 12 inches away from the head.

Method – 4: (Hot Compress)

Heat therapy will make your ears free from fluids (or water), as it opens the Eustachian tube to clear the fluid easily.

  • Dip a clean washcloth in a bowl of hot water.
  • Wring out to remove excess water and place the cloth over the affected ear for about 30 – 45 seconds.
  • Remove it and wait for a minute to reapply the cloth over affected ear.
  • Continue doing this process for 4 – 5 times and then lie down on your side to drain out the fluid from your ears.

Note:

  • Or inhaling steam also opens the Eustachian tube and eases the fluid buildup in the ear. Inhale the steam slowly for 5 – 10 minutes and tilt your head to draw fluid out of your ear.
  • Also taking a hot shower will remove water from your ears.

Method – 5: (Hydrogen Peroxide)

Hydrogen peroxide has an effervescent property that helps to get rid of fluids in the ear. It removes the trapped fluids (water), earwax, bacteria and debris from the ear canal.

  • Pour 4 – 5 drops of 3% hydrogen peroxide into the affected ear using a dropper.
  • Let it settle for a minute or two and tilt your head downwards to drain out the fluid easily.

Note: Avoid using this method if you’re suffering from an ear infection (or) a punctured eardrum (or) perforated eardrum or Eustachian tubes.

Method – 6: (Olive Oil)

Olive oil clears the ear wax and opens up the Eustachian tube so that the water will drain out easily. It forms a protective layer on the outer ear to prevent bacteria or any other impurities getting into the ear.

  • Warm some olive oil and pour few drops of oil into the ear by using a dropper.
  • Leave it for 10 – 12 minutes and then turn your head sideways.
  • Now use a soft ear bud to remove the oil and water from your ear.

Note: Placing 2 – 3 drops of olive oil in each ear before going for swimming will help to lubricate the tissues of the ear canal and thus prevents water from plugging your ears.

Method – 7: (Salt)

  • Place 1/4 cup of salt in a microwave and heat it gently.

  • Do it daily to get soft and smooth lips.

Note:

  • Or mix 1/2 teaspoon of castor oil in 1 teaspoon of fresh lemon juice and honey. Apply it on the lips at night before bedtime and repeat regularly for few days to get quick relief.
  • Also, apply organic coconut oil (or) almond oil (or) olive oil (or) jojoba oil (or) flaxseed oil for few times daily to treat chapped lips with its amazing moisturizing property.

Method – 5: (Milk Cream)

Milk cream has high-fat content that acts as natural moisture that prevents dryness and clears chapped lips.

  • Apply some fresh milk cream on the lips and let it sit for about 10 – 15 minutes.

Method – 6: (Petroleum Jelly)

Petroleum jelly or Vaseline helps to soften, nourish and protect the lip from drying.

  • Apply a thin layer of raw honey on all over the chapped lips and wait for a minute.

  • Allow it sit for few minutes and wipe it off with a cotton ball dipped in warm water.

Method – 7: (Mango Butter or Oil)

Mango butter and oil acts as emollients that exhibit a rich content of oleic and stearic fatty acids that naturally produce oil to moisture your chapped or cracked lips.

  • Apply enough organic mango butter to your lips.
  • Leave it on to dry naturally.

  8. Most of the mouthwashes and toothpaste contain fluoride can cause chapped lips. So, stop using them till you get relief from the problem or else look for an alternative.

Method – 2: (Oatmeal)

  • Cook 1 cup of oatmeal with enough water till it forms a thick paste.
  • Apply it on the affected skin while it is lukewarm but not cold.
  • The heat emitted from the oatmeal will cool and leave the skin dry and thus prevents itching and irritation.
  • Let it sit for about 15 – 20 minutes and wash the area with water.
  • Dry your skin gently and continue the same process for twice daily.

Note: Also, add 1 teaspoon of baking soda (draws out the toxins and relieves itching) to the oatmeal before application to speed up the healing process.

Method – 3: (Oatmeal with Salt)

  • Mix 2 teaspoons of salt and enough of warm water in 3 cups of oatmeal.
  • Stir well to make a smooth paste and apply this paste on the rashes as a pack.

Tips and Precautions:

  1. Avoid picking, popping, scratching or scrubbing the blisters, as the liquid oozes out and spread the infection to other body parts.
  2. Rinse yourself thoroughly with warm water after getting any contact with poison oak and also wash the clothes, shoes or other things to get rid of the infection.
  3. Don’t burn poison oak plants, as it will spread the allergens into the air and also the inhaling the smoke will result in the problem.
  4. Dilute some essential oils like lavender, tea tree oil, chamomile, cypress or geranium with water and use it as a first aid to apply it on the affected areas for 2 – 3 times daily.
  5. Always wear long sleeve clothes and covered shoes while going out, especially in the wooden areas or camps.
  6. Keep your pets away from these plants and also clean them regularly to avoid the poison oak contamination.
