How to Get Rid of Itchy Scalp with Tea Tree Oil

Scratching the itchy scalp repeatedly can be not only embarrassing in public but also causes a lot of discomfort and leads to hair loss. Due to busy schedules, we are unable to take proper hair and scalp care. Healthy scalp results in healthy and nourishing hair and for obtaining healthy scalp, there are many natural remedies which are easily available at home. One such natural remedy is tea tree oil, which helps to get rid of scalp problems and keep it healthy.

Method – 3: (Tea Tree Oil with Sulfate Free Shampoo or Baby Shampoo)

Using shampoos that contain sodium laurel sulphate or propyl alcohol will irritate the scalp and harm your hair. So, usage of natural or sulfate free shampoo will nourish your hair and when tea tree oil mixed in it, relieves the itchy scalp. This process is effective for treating itchiness in oily scalp.

  • Mix 10 – 20 drops of tea tree oil in 1/2 cup of baby or natural shampoo.
  • Stir well and use this mix to wash your hair and scalp thoroughly.
  • Rinse it off with water and dry your hair to remove the itchy flakes.
  • Do the same process for every time you shampoo your hair until itchiness stopped on the scalp.

Method – 4: (Tea Tree Oil)

  • Pour 7- 10 drops of tea tree oil in a small bowl.
  • Apply it directly on the itchy scalp by using cotton swab or ball.
  • Let it sit for few minutes and wash your hair with tea tree oil shampoo.

  • Add 3 tablespoons of organic coconut oil and 1 teaspoon of tea tree oil in 1 oz of natural shampoo.

  • Or use other essential oils like oil of oregano, lavender oil, etc. instead of tea tree essential oil in this process.

Tips and Precautions:

  1. Use coconut oil based shampoo and conditioners for treating head lice. Also, add some oil to laundry for preventing the infection on clothes.
  2. Regular follow-up of these coconut oil methods will help to remove lice and its nits before they hatch to prevent the new lice along with its recurrence.
  3. You can also add little camphor in warm coconut oil and apply this oil on all over the head. Massage and leave it for overnight with a shower cap. Wash it with shampoo and comb your hair when it dries to eradicate lice.
